Three Rivers Elementary School serves 844 students, kindergarten to sixth grade, through 84 dedicated faculty members. It offers its students a state of the art learning environment with Internet access in all classrooms so all students can become part of the global society. Most classrooms have four computers for students to use during the school day. Students have access to a fully automated library and media center as well. A variety of educational programs such as after-school tutoring, Enrichment courses, and online curricula provide students with a wealth of opportunity to excel and achieve. Each teacher can better meet student needs as well with data warehousing resources developed by district personnel. These resources allow teachers to profile the past performance of a student and better meet the specific needs of the individual student.

TRE Report CardHarrison County School District
(Part A: No Child Left Behind Act of 2001)
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 requires school districts to publish report cards containing certain information. The required information falls into three general areas: school improvement, teacher qualifications, and test data. A school that fails to make adequate yearly progress in achievement must be identified for school improvement. The report must contain information about the professional qualifications of teachers in core academic subject areas [English, reading, language arts, science, mathematics, foreign languages, arts, civics and government, economics, history and geography]. Highly qualified teachers are those who satisfied the NCLB criteria during the school year. The report must also contain achievement data for specific subgroups, two-year achievement trends and student participation rates.
Please contact the principal of your child's school if you have questions about this report.

The Behavior Incentive Program has begun again here at Three Rivers Elementary. Students who do not receive any discipline forms during a nine weeks period and follow the expectations in the classroom are able to participate in a special reward. These rewards have included trips to a skating rink, a movie, and breakfast out. We have definitely seen an increase of student participation.

Three Rivers Elementary is Mississippi's First Positive Behavior Support Model Site!
By: Beth Kenworthy
Three Rivers Elementary has been recognized as Mississippi's First PBS model site. In December of 2007, evaluators from the REACH-MS partnership evaluated the school using a set of twenty-eight research based questions. A score of 95% was achieved earning Three Rivers the designation of Mississippi's first model site.
REACH-MS is a partnership between the Mississippi Department of Education, the University of Southern Mississippi, and school districts from across the state. REACH stands for Reaching Excellence for All Children. The partnership provides assistance and funding for schools to promote and enhance programs that are designed to increase positive academic and social behaviors.
Three Rivers achieved model status by combining a positive learning environment with high academic goals. Some of the programs used by the staff and students at TRE are morning meetings, the FISH! philosophy, Bus of the Month, and the promotion of school wide expectations. Morning meeting is a time where children gather with their teacher to greet each other, share good news, and to play a learning game. Morning meeting promotes an atmosphere of acceptance and achievement. Students at TRE also follow a simple set of school wide expectations: Act Responsibly, Come Prepared, Have Respect, and Show Self Control. By following these expectations, students can earn Dolphin Dollars which they can "cash in" for prizes each nine weeks. Bus of the Month has been one of the most successful initiatives started at TRE. Buses are chosen based on the student's adherence to the school wide expectations as they load and unload each day. The students on the winning bus receive a Dolphin Dollar and the bus driver receives a gift certificate. Discipline referrals from bus drivers have decreased dramatically.
Three Rivers continues to be a school where "Every Student, Every Day, in Every Classroom is Learning, Growing, and Succeeding!"

500 in Mississippi Learn the Perfect Game
Published June 2010 in Handball Magazine
More than 500 third through sixth graders have been taught the fundamentals of handball as part of the first public elementary school program in Mississippi to offer handball. This happened at the invitation of Kelly Revelle, a coach and PE teacher at Harrison County Three Rivers Elementary School. During the three weeks of instruction, Joel Levy was assisted by physical education teachers Mitchael Clark, Gina Kinney, and Angela Sherwood. Students played one-wall, singles, cut-throat and doubles, and they saw the “Extreme Handball” video. They also received a Simple Green or big blue ball.
Revelle deserves recognition for becoming the first USHA instructor in Mississippi. Thanks are due to principal Tracy Sellers and assistant principal Marlin Ryland.
Updated August 2011
Beginning October 2011, third and fourth graders at Three Rivers Elementary will learn the fundamentals of handball by participating in a one week handball clinic. Coach Kelly Revelle is now a level 3. As a level 3, she can teach, coach, and referee. Coach Mitchael Clark is now a level 2, allowing him to teach and coach. During the one week clinic, Coach Preston Necaise will receive a Level 1 certification for teaching handball.
