HCSD High School Principals, Staff Surprise Vals & Sals

(HARRISON COUNTY, MS)  This year, graduating seniors missed out on Senior Awards Night and hearing the big announcement of who will be their Class of 2020 valedictorian and salutatorian. COVID-19 forced the cancellation of many senior activities and traditions. Administrators and staff at all three high schools in the Harrison County School District came up with a plan to surprise their top two students with the exciting news!

Imagine opening your front door and seeing your principal, assistant principals, counselors, teachers, and coaches. On May 18, 2020, school employees at D’Iberville High, West Harrison High, and Harrison Central High showed up at the homes of students who are ranked first and second in their class to announce that they are the school valedictorian and salutatorian. The school staff then presented the vals and sals with their honorary medals and showered them with gifts, congratulations, and well wishes. The students were definitely surprised, and they expressed their joy and appreciation to the school employees for taking the time to make them feel extra special.
