West Harrison High Senior Achieves Perfect Attendance

(HARRISON COUNTY, MS) A West Harrison High senior wore a very impressive medal on her graduation day. Desirae Dorr has never missed a day of school, and she is the only student in her class to achieve perfect attendance for all 13 years of school! For her remarkable achievement, Desirae received a perfect attendance medal from the Harrison County School District.

Desirae told WLOX News: “I just hated makeup work, and it was my goal to not miss school because I didn’t like making up work or anything.”

Obviously, Desirae did not want to miss a milestone moment in her life, being able to walk across the stage. Despite challenges during the coronavirus pandemic, the Harrison County School District worked with Mississippi Coast Coliseum officials so that Desirae and 266 other West Harrison seniors could get to experience a traditional graduation ceremony. On May 30, 2020, Desirae did what she has done since kindergarten, show up for an important school event. This time, it was to celebrate the end of her successful school career.

“Graduation is like a big milestone for everybody so being able to walk the stage and get our diploma is just a big step for us,” Dorr told WLOX News.

Congratulations to Desirae and the West Harrison High Class of 2020!Desirae Dorr
