EXCUSE FOR ABSENCES

Harrison County School District Attendance Policy

The school must receive an excuse within two school days after an absence, or it will automatically be considered unexcused.

About Transportation

The Harrison County School District owns, maintains, and operates a fleet of 200 school buses and transports more then 10,000 students to nine-teen different schools each day.

The annual mileage for the buses is 1,500,000 miles with a daily average of 5,881 miles.

The boundary lines of the Harrison County School District extend from Hancock, Stone, and Jackson Counties covering 581 square miles.

The transportation department conducts staff development twice a year covering subjects of discipline, safety, bus routing, and fueling issues.

Electronic Trip Requests

The Transportation Department has developed a new electronic way of approving field trips on the transportation side.  You may download the Activity Trip Request Form below under Forms. You may forward the Activity Trip Request Form  to your teachers and staff so that they will be able to fill this out when a trip is planned.

 Steps for Approval:

  • Teachers or Staff fill out form and e-mail it to the Principal
  • Principals MUST e-mail it to the Transportation Department (Arlie Koenenn)
  • Forms get approved then e-mailed back to the Principal
  • Print out and give to the requesting faculty member for the driver.

These steps must be followed.  The e-mails are going to be somewhat like a signature.

Thanks –

Transportation Department
