D’Iberville High girls win MS powerlifting championship, set new state record

The D’Iberville High School Girls’ Powerlifting Team has won the Girls’ Class III State Championship for the first time in school history!  The team is the first on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to win this title.  The girls also broke the state record for total team points, scoring a total of 52 team points.   The Class III competition (all 5A and 6A schools combined) took place on Saturday in Jackson.


The following competitors placed at the meet: 

  • 2nd place 97 lb class Ilannys Hernandez
  • 1st place 105 lb class Shae Mallard
  • 2nd place 105 lb class Nadjah Moore
  • 1st place 132 lb class Jaedyn Galbreath
  • 4th place 132 lb class Sydney Metz
  • 1st place 148 lb class Keiyera Harrison
  • 1st place 181 lb class Mhykayla McCoy
  • 2nd place 220 lb class Sahara Spates
  • 1st place 220+ class Stefani Varela

In addition, the following Warriors were recognized at the Elite Eleven Ceremony:  Mhykalya McCoy, Keiyera Harrison, Stefani Varela, Shae Mallard, and Nadjah Moore.  Shae Mallard also broke the all-time bench record, and the state record, for both deadlift and total amount of weight lifted for her weight class.
