2023 HCSD Administrator of the Year

2023 HCSD Administrator of the Year

(HARRISON COUNTY, MS) February 27, 2023 -
Congratulations to the 2023 Harrison County School District Administrator of the Year – Mrs. April Daniels! She was honored during Monday night's Harrison County School Board meeting. Mrs. Daniels is the principal of Lyman Elementary and has served in the school administrative role in HCSD for four-and-a-half years.

As a preacher’s daughter and growing up leading Bible studies, Mrs. Daniels realized at an early age that she was destined to be an educator. She started her teaching career in Jackson Public Schools. During her career in education, Mrs. Daniels has received various awards, including being named the 2014-15 Teacher of the Year for Woodley Elementary School in Hattiesburg.

In a leadership position, Mrs. Daniels served three years as an assistant principal of Lyman Elementary. She took over as the principal of Crossroads Elementary in 2021. In one year and during the height of the pandemic, she led Crossroads from a C-rating to an A-rated school.

Mrs. Daniels’ educational philosophy focuses on embracing each student’s differences and ensuring that all students are given the support they need to succeed.

“It is important that all students are known, valued, and receive individualized tools and supports because every student has the right to an education that meets their needs and helps them reach their full potential. By providing individualized support, we are setting each student up for future success," said Daniels.

Mrs. Daniels is married to Kevin, who is also an educator, and they have four children.

Thank you, Mrs. Daniels, for being an exceptional administrator and curriculum leader! We are proud to have you represent HCSD as the District’s Administrator of the Year!
