KFCU Donates 1,400 Kindergarten Kits to HCSD

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (July 20, 2022) –  HCSD maintenance, technology, and custodial teams all pitched in today to help load, transport, unload, and sort over 1,400 kindergarten supply kits and backpacks. The free supplies came from Keesler Federal Credit Union as part of its annual Backpacks for Bright Futures program. Thanks to this wonderful donation, every kindergartner in the Harrison County School District will receive a box of school supplies, clear backpack, tissue, and hand sanitizer. Each kit contains a pair of scissors, markers, crayons, dry erase markers, construction paper, pencils, erasers, folders, highlighters, and glue sticks.

On Thursday, school administrators and staff picked up their free supplies and backpacks from district office. HCSD would like to send a huge thank you to Keesler FCU for its continued partnership and for donating these supplies to give our kindergartners a great start to their education! HCSD also appreciates all the Keesler volunteers who turned out at the Coast Coliseum Convention Center on Wednesday morning to help load the items.

Each elementary school in HCSD will notify parents about how the supplies will be distributed. We know our kindergartners will be very excited when they receive their gifts to kick off the 2022-23 school year!
