Two HCSD Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

Posted Date: 3/18/24 (10:28 AM)

(March 15, 2024) – Congratulations to two seniors in the Harrison County School District who have advanced to become 2024 National Merit Finalists! Brian Lin of D’Iberville High and Landon Blake of West Harrison High are among the top academically talented students from across the country who are now being considered for National Merit scholarships.

Earning the title of National Merit Finalist is a significant achievement. The designation honors students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. To become a Finalist, Semifinalists must submit a detailed scholarship application that includes their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. Students must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT or ACT scores that confirm their earlier performance on the qualifying test.

National Merit Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April. We wish Brian and Landon the very best as they enter the next phase of this prestigious scholarship competition.
