HCSD educators undergo CRASE training

HCSD educators learn how to keep students safe during active shooting

All the teachers and staff from D’Iberville Elementary School and D’Iberville Middle School participated in CRASE training on the eve of the first day of school.  CRASE stands for “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events”.  The training session was conducted by school resource officers and the D’Iberville Police Department.

All directors, administrators, teachers and staff in the Harrison County School District will undergo CRASE training by the end of this school year. In 2017, Harrison County School District was the first school district in Mississippi to request the CRASE course for all principals, assistant principals and district directors.  The program was taught by the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security.  Since then, MDE has recommended CRASE training for school districts across the state.
