Two HCSD Teachers Honored with Leo Seal Awards

Two teachers in the Harrison County School District were among 12 South Mississippi teachers who were honored on April 12 with the Hancock-Whitney Leo W. Seal Innovative Teacher Award. Congratulations to Ms. Megan Gill of North Woolmarket Elementary & Middle School and Ms. Bethany Seal of West Harrison High School for this prestigious recognition!

Ms. Gill won a grant for her project: “You Can’t Do It — Yet”.  Ms. Seal received a grant for her proposal: “Contemporary, Culturally Relevant Coming of Age Novels”.

Harrison County School District Superintendent, Roy Gill, and the principals from both schools, Mrs. Dana Trochessett and Mrs. Alison Morgan, attended the luncheon and awards ceremony at the Hancock-Whitney Bank building in downtown Gulfport.

Leo Seal Group 2019

The Leo Seal Teacher Grants are given out every year by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation to support innovative classroom projects and to enhance the educational experience for students. The Harrison County School District is very proud of both teachers for taking the extra steps to get their students excited about learning.
