Creekbend School Adding Classrooms, Expanding Cafeteria Due to Growth

Posted Date: 8/27/25 (2:19 PM)

(August 26, 2025) – Creekbend Elementary and Middle School has experienced so much growth since it opened three years ago. A big expansion project is underway to add much-needed classrooms and more cafeteria space to the campus.

Construction crews are building four new academic wings to house 16 additional classrooms. The school cafeteria will expand by a third, gaining 256 seats in the dining room while adding a third serving line, a larger kitchen, and an additional walk-in freezer.

The $6.5 million project started in April and is expected to be completed in December. The expansion is needed due to population growth on the east side of Harrison County.

Creekbend opened in August 2022 as part of a $55 million bond issue that voters overwhelmingly approved in 2018. The 136,000-square-foot building currently has 65 classrooms, and the enrollment stands at 1,054 students. With the expansion, the school can house 300-400 more students.
