Welcome to the Special Services Center!

Harrison County School District provides effective educational programs to students with disabilities who are in need of special education and other services necessary to enable them to benefit from instruction as provided for in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and state law.

HOW TO REFER A CHILD – If you know or suspect that a child residing in the Harrison County School District has a disability, please contact your child’s school. The Child Find Coordinator will ensure that the student is referred to the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) for consideration of a comprehensive evaluation, as specified in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 2004 (IDEA 2004). The Harrison County School District shall adhere to and implement procedures regarding Child Find as outlined in State Board Policy 74.19.

A referral may also be made by calling the Special Services Center at 228-832-9344.
