(May 20, 2026) – Our HCSD April Teacher of the Month award goes to Ms. Hallie Collins of Lyman Elementary School!

We dropped by Lyman today to surprise Ms. Collins with the big news! She received a certificate of recognition, a $50 gift card, teacher supplies, and balloons from Ms. Bridgette Strange from the Huntington Learning Center.

Ms. Collins teaches kindergarten, and her love for teaching comes from both her community and her young students.

“I am very rooted in south Mississippi as I have lived in Gulfport all of my life. I am blessed to have been able to teach kindergarten for 17 years and going. This age group is really motivating because they are so eager to learn. Teaching kinders to read is my passion and joy, and I'm grateful to do it here in the Harrison County School District!”
